Dipak Haksar is the Chief Operating Officer; ITC Hotels. As COO his key role is in being able to steer and manage products, processes and people in an environment that sees ITC Hotels as bigger and better. The hotels division is poised towards expanding its base in India with several projects in the luxury and premium segments in progress. His astute business approach and diverse experience plays a catalyst role in strengthening operations.
Having done an advanced GMP from Cornell, Dipak Haksar began his journey at ITC Maurya in 1978 and held numerous positions with the company since then, managing both leisure and business properties across both north and south India with equal élan. Over the last three decades Dipak Haksar covered the entire length and breadth of the country. A humble beginning from the Maurya took him to ITC Windsor, Bengaluru, a hotel he nurtured as the Resident Manager before moving to Rajuptana Sheraton in the west as Manager and Umaid Bhawan Palace as General Manager. Each position was an opportunity to contribute and learn, eventually enriching him with an exceptional management style.
It was under his leadership that ITC Maratha was launched in Mumbai and won the ‘Best Luxury Business Hotel’ award in its first year of operation. Again, it was during his tenure that the division’s flagship property the ITC Maurya in New Delhi underwent a metamorphosis in both product and service design, to emerge as the leading premium luxury business hotel in the capital. His quest for quality & a result oriented work culture is what earned the hotel several accolades including the Golden Peacock National Training Award-2007, the National Energy Conservation Award for 2007-08, the National Tourism Award – Best Eco-Friendly Hotel for 2007-08 and whilst retaining ‘Bukhara’ as the ‘Number One Restaurant in Asia and amongst the Top 50 in the World,
His customer focus, warmth and man management qualities not only won him the ‘Best General Manager’ award but is also what endears him to colleagues; superiors and subordinates alike.
