Lt. Gen. Rajender Singh
Lt Gen Rajender Singh, PVSM, SM, VSM, was commissioned into the KUMAON Regiment on 21 Dec 1969. During his distinguished career spanning almost four decades, the General has held many prestigious national and international assignments like UN Force Commander, Deputy Director General Military Operations, General Officer Commanding of an Infantry Division and Chief of Staff of Northern Army Command in J&K.

Lt Gen Rajender Singh also has vast experience in the field of UN Peacekeeping. He was appointed as the Force Commander of the United Nations Peace Keeping Forces Ethiopia & Eritrea from 2004 to 2006 (one of the 12 Indians to be given this honour since Independence). During this tenure in Ethiopia and Eritrea, the UN Forces restored peace in the region and consolidated on the peace process.

A decorated professional soldier, he was awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal (Country’s highest distinguished service award) by the President of India in January 2009. He is also a recipient of Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal and Chief of Army Staff’s Commendation awarded to him for acts of bravery and distinguished services earlier in his career.

Lt Gen Rajender Singh retired from the Army on 01 Dec 2008 after having served as the Director General of Infantry, the largest arm of the Indian Army during which time he spearheaded the transition of Infantry into a modernized force for the 21st Century battlefield. Currently he has joined the corporate world and has taken over as the CEO of DLF Foundation.
